What Is An SST Card?
Under Local Law 196 of 2017, all construction and demolition workers at NYC job sites that require a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator, or Site Safety Manager must complete at least 40 hours of Site Safety Training. The SST Card is proof of that completion.
Once issued, your SST Card is valid for 5 years and must be renewed to stay active.

What if my SST Card has expired?
If your SST card has expired, you may be unable to work on certain job sites until you get a new card.
⚠️ Important: Once an SST card expires, it is no longer eligible for renewal — regardless of whether or when you took renewal classes. You will need to meet the requirements for a new card.
For Workers (40-Hour SST Card)
To recover an expired card, you must have completed all of the following courses in the last 5 years:
- 8-Hour Fall Prevention (SST-307)
- 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness (SST-302)
- Plus one of:
- 30-Hour OSHA
- or 8 hours of SST refresher courses* (See below)
If you have already retaken OSHA 30 within the last 5 years, this can be applied. Otherwise, the shorter option is to take the SST refresher courses detailed below.
*The NYC DOB currently offers this option as an expedited method to recover an expired SST card. This is subject to change. It is always best to renew your SST card before it expires.
- 4-Hour Fall Prevention (SST-305)
- Plus one of:
- 4-Hour SST Renewal Bundle (SST-303 and SST-304)
- or 4-Hour Scaffold User (SCA-211)
For Supervisors (62-Hour SST Card)
If you hold a Supervisor card, you will first need to follow the steps above to reinstate your 40-Hour card. After that, please contact us directly to determine what additional requirements are needed to restore your Supervisor card.
Any supervisor classes (See above: Supervisor SST Card) New taken in the past 5 years can still be counted towards the 62HR Supervisor SST card, but any classes older than that must be retaken.
